Following the debut of the highly anticipated and promoted Netflix horror mystery series Devil in Ohio, viewers have taken to Twitter to share their reactions.

Based on Daria Polatin's book of the same name, the author also serves as showrunner for the limited series alongside producer Rachel Miller.

Netflix is attempting to enter the mystery thriller genre once more with the series.

In addition to Emily Deschanel playing Dr. Suzanne Mathis, Sam Jaeger plays Peter, Madeleine Arthur plays Mae, and Gerardo Celasco plays Detective Lopez in the series.

According to the official series synopsis, "hospital psychiatrist Dr. Suzanne Mathis' (Emily Deschanel) world is flipped upside down when a mystery cult escapee (Madeleine Arthur) arrives and threatens to split her own family apart."

The series was undoubtedly hit or miss with the fans on Twitter.

While some internet users adored the eight-episode thriller, others dismissed it as yet another Netflix show. One reviewer's praise for Emily Deschanel, who was praised for her acting skills and her portrayal of a strong character in the programme, stood out among the fan feedback.

The series mostly earned negative reviews from viewers who either couldn't get enough of the show's terrifying soundscapes or gave up watching it shortly after it began.
