The Cardinals and Yankees have consented to an exchange that will send left-hander Jordan Montgomery to St. Louis in return for focus defender Harrison Bader, the groups reported.

Montgomery, 29, posted a 3.69 ERA (104 ERA+) and a 4.22 strikeout-to-walk proportion in 114 innings this season in pinstripes.

He's booked to hit free organization after the 2023 season.

Montgomery does the vast majority of his work behind a three-pitch blend: a 93-mph fastball and low-80s changeup and curve.

He tosses strikes and has created a vocation high 46% ground balls this season,

 making him a solid match before St. Louis' first rate cautious infield.

Bader, 28, will likewise fit the bill with the expectation of complimentary organization after next season.
