Cristian Romero, a centre back, has been permanently signed by Tottenham Hotspur from Atalanta.

Romero, 24, signed a contract to remain at Tottenham until 2027 after joining the team on loan during the previous campaign.

According to ESPN's sources, Romero's contract would be for €55 million ($65 million).

The Argentinean international made 30 appearances for Spurs during the previous season, which helped them finish fourth and earn a spot in the Champions League.

Romero, who has 11 caps for his nation, was an important member of the Argentina team that won the Copa America last year.

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has stated that his team needs "at least two" transfer windows in order to seriously contend for the Premier League championship.

After signing Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Djed Spence, and Ivan Perisic over the summer, Conte's club has started the season brightly with three victories and a draw against Chelsea. They also added Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona.

Conte told reporters on Monday, "If you compare to last season, we are more complete.

However, in order to compete with other top-tier teams, it will take time, patience, and at least two transfer markets to achieve the same level.
